Travel Tenerife-Spain

If you’re looking for a family-friendly winter sun holiday in Tenerife, close to the airport and packed with activities, this resort might be exactly what you need.

In 2023, I had a strong urge to do something brave, and that turned into my first solo holiday abroad. I wanted somewhere that felt safe, warm, and easy to navigate, with the option of staying entirely within the resort if I chose. An all-inclusive resort in Tenerife, close to the airport, felt like the perfect fit.
What I discovered was not only a boost in confidence, but also a great all-inclusive resort in Tenerife for families. There are endless activities for kids, while parents can enjoy genuine downtime thanks to the spa and adults-only pool, and bar.

Hotel Overview : Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife

    • Daytime: 19–21°C

    • The island can be windy at this time of year, but still warm enough for a bikini during the day. Bring a shawl for the evenings.
  • 7 swimming pools

  • Fully equipped gym
  • Spa & wellness centre
  • Children’s waterpark
  • Adults-only pool and bar

Junior Suite with Sea View

Some rooms are around a 5-minute walk from the main pools and restaurants, but the trade-off is worth it for the sea-view rooms at the back of the resort. I stayed in a Junior Suite with Sea View, which was:
  • Spacious and spotlessly clean
  • Equipped with a large super-king bed
  • A separate living area
  • A private balcony with beautiful ocean views
Perfect for both solo travellers and families needing extra space.
The resort operates on a fully all-inclusive basis, with buffet-style:
  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Dinner
The Echeide Main Buffet Restaurant does not require bookings and offers a wide international selection, including vegetarian and gluten-free options. While the food is typical of large buffets and can feel repetitive on longer stays, there is plenty of choice.
There are four à la carte restaurants, including:
  • Japanese
  • Italian
  • Steakhouse
Bookings are made at reception, and depending on your length of stay, these are included at no extra cost.

I chose the Japanese restaurant, which was a refreshing change from the buffet. Portion sizes were generous, staff were friendly, and they were happy to customise dishes for vegetarian guests.

Outside the hotel entrance, there is a small strip of shops and restaurants within walking distance, ideal if you want a change of scenery.
For lunch, the Dream Factory pool restaurant serves burgers, chips, nuggets, and soft drinks. The menu is very fried-food heavy, with limited healthy options (this may have changed since my visit).

Getting to Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife

I booked my package holiday through easyJet Holidays, which offers direct flights to Tenerife South Airport (TFS) from several UK airports, including Gatwick, Luton, Manchester, and more.

The flight time is approximately 4 hours, making Tenerife ideal for families travelling with children.

The hotel is just a 12-minute drive from Tenerife South Airport, which is a huge plus after a long travel day. EasyJet also offers private airport transfers, taking away any unnecessary stress. Alternatively, taxis are readily available outside the terminal.

First Impressions of the Hotel

From the moment I arrived, the hotel felt clean, organised, and welcoming. Check-in was smooth, and the staff clearly explained key information such as:

  • Breakfast and dinner times
  • Evening entertainment locations
  • Hotel facilities and amenities

The resort is large and can take time to get your bearings, so pick up the resort map from reception.

Pools & Resort Layout

At the centre of the resort is a children’s waterpark, which is lively and noisy but fantastic for families. Sunbeds are plentiful in this area.
For adults or solo travellers, there is an adults-only infinity pool located at the far end of the resort, past the children’s area.
You receive a wristband at check-in, which is used to collect towels from towel huts near the pools.
Tip: There is no towel hut at the adults-only pool, so pick up towels near the restaurants or kids’ waterpark beforehand.
The adults-only pool is smaller and not heated, but it offers uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean, making it one of the most relaxing spots in the resort. Also boasting its own bar, so you’re never too far away from a refreshing drink.

Entertainment for Kids & Adults

For children, the iconic castle in the centre of the resort lights up at night and hosts entertainment and activities.
For adults, there is live music at the outdoor bar near reception, perfect for pre- or post-dinner drinks.
The resort also has a theatre with live shows, which were some of the best hotel performances I’ve seen. These shows are included in your stay and are well worth attending (your length of stay will determine how many shows you can access).

Other Useful Information

  • The spa is slightly hidden, so grab a resort map to avoid missing it. It’s an extra cost, but peaceful and worth it.
  • Near the adults-only pool, there is a black gate that opens onto a coastal path. Tap your wristband to exit and re-enter.
  • This path is ideal for sunrise or sunset walks and leads towards the marina and surrounding areas.

Final Thoughts: Is Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife Worth It?

I would highly recommend Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife for families, especially those with young children or mixed ages. The resort offers:

With a dedicated teens club, kids’ waterpark, and adults-only spaces, it strikes a great balance for families wanting both fun and relaxation.
